The Hissing Cats, a non-profit corporation, was founded as an opportunity to showcase the art of my two beloved daughters, Candice and Marylyn, whose amazing works might not have made it to the public’s eye due to the sorrowful tragedy of their untimely deaths. Our mission is to raise awareness about mental health, bipolar disorder, depression, addiction, and suicide prevention. We want to spread the message “it’s ok to be different” and to help rid people of the stigma that follows mental illness and addiction so they can get help! The concept of “Mental Health Awareness through Art” is the in-person, thought-provoking events that would help raise the level of consciousness to all who attend or watch via streaming channels, that these illnesses exist, change lives and due to a negative stigma can go ignored, untreated, or maltreated. The Hissing Cats, Corp will provide a safe art-space for new artists to showcase and feel great about their own work while being a part of this provocative endeavor.

We take a holistic approach to health, focusing on nutrition, exercise, and stress management. We advocate expression of thought and emotions in all forms of art. Our story will highly stress the need to be informed and responsible for psychiatric and therapeutic guidance which includes properly managing medication beneficial to your ment

Our story will highly stress the need to be informed and responsible for psychiatric and therapeutic guidance which includes properly managing medication beneficial to your mental health while being aware of any side effects to those medications. We also highly encourage seeking and accessing resources to help with the struggles of addiction. Family and friends are the most important factor in providing a safe and supporting environment to those suffering and these resources can be of great help to them as well.

Our mission supporters come from all walks of life and have a variety of health and wellness goals. However, there is one commonality, they are artists or art appreciators who will help us keep ongoing exhibits. At the art exhibits, guests will have the opportunity to own a copy of Candice and Marylyn art with a donation to our cause.
